The Urban Forest Project calls on artists and designers to employ the idea or form of the tree to make a powerful visual statement on banners that are displayed throughout the community. My banner was one of 100 chosen for display the Summer of 2011 in DC.
Deep Roots
From the signing of the Declaration of Independence to the Gettysburg Address, from Lewis and Clark to the lunar landing, from the Wright brothers at Kittyhawk to the startups in Silicon Valley, some of our trees have lived through it all. Inspired by living in our nation's capital, my design is a metaphor for America itself, with each leaf representing a momentous event in our history on the timeline. Our roots are deep, growing stronger and deeper with each new leaf.
